The Inheritance (Provisions for Family and Defendants) Act

Preamble: An act to make reasonable financial provision for the family and dependants of a deceased person out of the estate of the deceased person where the disposition of the deceased's estate effected by his will  or the law relating to intestacy, or the combination  of his will and that law, is not such as to make reasonable financial provision  for the maintenance of his family and dependants, and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto
